Bio-masses and employment: 600 thousand employees by 2020

Forecasts prepared by Fiper, the Italian Federation of producers of energy from sustainable sources, start from a current statistic - the number of direct employees employed in the agro-energy field calculated at around 30 thousand people, without counting the number of companies in allied industrial fields (thermal equipment, forestry machinery, remote heating power stations, maintenance staff, installation technicians).

Fiper estimates an increase to 600 thousand indirect employees by 2020, provided that the Government defines clear and stable outlines for operators who decide to invest in this sector.
